FO Section Photos

The FO (Forward Observer) is the eye's of the Artillery and muscle of the Infantry. By land or air the FO can lay down a field of Artillery Fire for the advancing Infantry or set up a defenses around the encampment. The FO team was made up of one Officer, one Recon Sgt. and a RTO.

In the period of seven year's as a FO on the DMZ in Korea, to serving two tours in Vietnam in Corp III, to the DMZ with 5/4th Artillery 5th Infantry Division (A Co. 1/61st Inf.), I had the pleasure of working with Weapon outside of my MOS. of 13E40, From Air Support to the small 60mm mortars. I have walked and road on everything from the M113 (APC) to the M48 Tank. Have called fire mission from 106 RR to 175 Gun's.
